Elan Amphibio 16 TI review 2020

AWARD
Best performance!

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

Since the Amphibio 18 Ti2 placed well in the “Cruisers” category, we decided to test the Amphibio 16 Ti in this category.

We should point out that the ski is asymmetric: there is a left ski and a right ski. You have to make sure you don’t mix up the skis. Otherwise, the performance will deteriorate.

The best thing about the Amphibio 16 Ti is that it is reliable. The ski performs well in all areas: carved or skidded turns, short or long turns. The ski does not excel in one particular area, but it will be there for you in all situations. The testers appreciated that the ski “performed well,” was solid underfoot, and had a “strong rebound."

The Amphibio 16 Ti is less accessible than the Head Konic 76 or the Rossignol React R6 because it is geared towards a slightly better skier.

We recommend this ski to skiers who are already making parallel turns and would like a fun, versatile, and solid-performing ski for the groomers.

  • Balanced
  • Allows skier to really improve technique

Review: Cons

  • More demanding and physical than some models in this category
  • Not very accessible

Manufacturer's remarks

When you have the slope to yourself, the Amphibio 16 Ti will open up and rip long arcs at high speeds, but at any moment, it can quickly transition into tight slalom turns to avoid the crowds on busy slopes.
