This year, we tested the Völkl RTM 76 Elite in a shorter size (161 cm) than requested for this category, which made it easier to use but compromised performance.

The ski pivots very easily, and the tail tends to overturn, which makes snow plow and skidded turns easier for a novice. Skidded turns are intuitive and consistent.

Unfortunately, since the test length was too short, the ski was less at ease when we increased the pace. At higher speeds, the lack of stability becomes an issue, and can "limit a skier’s improvement.”

The Völkl RTM 76 Elite is great for beginner to intermediate skiers who already know how to carve. We recommend getting a longer size as, in our opinion, the 161cm length is better suited to smaller skiers.

The RTM 76 Elite is a middle-of-the-range ski with a 76-mm waist and center sidewall technology. It comes with Marker vMotion bindings, providing a relatively light integrated system. It features a wood core for more technical skiing but is still easy to ski. An ideal ski for beginner to advanced skiers.
