PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

The Stöckli Stormrider 95 is one of the benchmarks of this market segment. It has not changed and is a safe bet!

The ski is “easy to control,” and is still accessible and smooth. Overall performance is very good, and the ski inspires confidence. The Stormrider 95 is stable and predictable. Like with most of the skis in this range, its ability to absorb variations in terrain is amazing.

It is agile, the tip engages quickly, and the tail is responsive, so it is very comfortable in short turns (especially in the size tested). It also likes longer turns.

It is a versatile and predictable ski that performs well everywhere. The ski easily transitions from cruisy skidded turns to carved turns at the skier’s discretion.

It is fairly soft in the tip and stiff in the tail, so you need to be well-positioned to get the most out of this ski, especially in the size tested. The testers thought the test length was too short. For aggressive skiers of medium to heavy build, we recommend the longer length (184 cm!) that we tested last year.

Off-piste performance is very good overall, and excellent for cutting through chopped-up and variable snow.

The Stöckli Stormrider 95 is a legendary ski that wins over hundreds of skiers each year. We recommend it to anyone who wants a really fun smooth versatile ski that is comfortable in all conditions

Review: Pros

  • Very good performance off-piste
  • Cuts through chopped-up snow
  • Maneuverability
  • Absorbs variations in terrain
  • Solid predictable behavior

Review: Cons

  • Tested in too short a length (175 cm instead of the 180/185 cm we requested)
  • Requires good fore/aft balance

Manufacturer's remarks

You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy a Stormrider 95! This lightweight freeride ski is made for challenging terrain and variable snow conditions. Featuring high-performance technology, such as the Polywall sidewalls for even more impact resistance, or TiTec Technology for increased stability and torsional stiffness, this ski will transform each of your runs into a unique and unforgettable experience. The powder is yours!

Light Core: special wood types like fuma and balsa make up the core of the Stormrider 95. Reduced weight, durability, dynamic response
Tip Rocker: the longer curvature of the shovel, called rocker technology, provides better float in powder, and also makes it easier to edge, more maneuverable on groomed runs, and less effort is required overall.
Slight tail rocker: a more playful ski, but the more open radius in the tail increases edge grip
Polywall: stronger edges, increased impact resistance, dampening properties
Graphite racing base
