Head Kore 99 review 2020

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

While the Head Kore 93 won a "Best Ski" medal last year in this category, the Kore 99 seems a lot stiffer and more performance-oriented.

This ski is made to go fast. It excels at high speed both on piste and off-piste. Its stability and capacity to dampen vibrations are simply amazing. The ski aspires to only one thing: to go fast. And according to the testers, it “needs space” to do so.

Against this weapon of war, chunks of chopped-up snow don’t stand a chance! A stiff ski, the Kore 99 slays them and shows no mercy. It is very stable, floats well in powder, and likes steep slopes, so it is the perfect weapon to rip the mountain at high speeds.

It is a true freeride ski that fears nothing, especially not speed. However, it needs to be controlled and requires energy to be flexed: “to control it, you have to be on top of it.”

It is very at ease in this category, but the ski struggles more at low speed. It pivots poorly and skidded turns are mediocre. The ski is sluggish and therefore not very playful. The Kore 99 needs speed and energy. It is not really the ideal ski for romantic outings on groomers!

A stiff physical ski, Head’s model is an excellent choice for an aggressive freerider who loves speed and big turns. We recommend it for heavier skiers in particular.

Manufacturer's remarks

The KORE 99 is an advanced ski for turning in deep powder. Comfortable in all types of snow, it is a great companion for every day. Its Graphene and Karuba construction make it a lot lighter without losing any skiability.
