Stöckli Stormrider 95 review 2019

Best Accessibility/Performance!

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

Voted "Best Ski" last year, the Stormrider 95 dropped a few spots in the rankings this season when the skis were tested in softer snow conditions. Nonetheless, it remains a leader in this market segment.

In fact, the ski has the same characteristics as last year. Its performance is very solid, predictable, and surprise-free both on groomed runs and in softer snow. It is incredibly easy to control and quite forgiving.

It is relatively stiff, incredibly stable, and easily absorbs irregularities in the terrain. The testers praised its ability to cut through variable and chopped-up snow: the ski breaks through chunks of snow without even bending.

The Stormrider 95 is a great ski for anyone looking for a high-performance ski to use both on and off-piste. It will appeal to advanced to expert skiers (with plenty of cash to spare).

Review: Pros

  • Reliable
  • Versatile both on piste and off-piste
  • Stable
  • Skis well in chopped-up snow and spring snow
  • Solid, predictable behavior

Review: Cons

  • In softer snow conditions, the testers found the ski a bit unresponsive and sluggish, especially compared to the more playful Head Kore 93.

Manufacturer's remarks

The Stormrider 95 is equally comfortable on groomers as it is off-piste. Like all the Stormriders, the graphics are printed directly on the Titanal topsheet. With its Powder Rocker, it is torsionally stiff, stable in the turn, but also very light. The ski was designed to ski all types of terrain and snow conditions with ease. It is a ski that seems to read your mind, instantly translating your thoughts into action.
