Dynastar Speed Omeglass Ti review 2012
Men's skis 2012 > Slalom Best ski 2012
The testers loved the Dynastar Speed Omeglass. It's an excellent ski that meets all the 'Slalom' criteria as defined by ProSkiLab. In effect, this category requires a truly high-performer, a spin-off from competitive skiing but with enough comfort, versatilty and accessibility that it can be used by non-competitors in a leisure/performance context. The Omeglass excels in all of these areas, and makes an... Read on
Dynastar Speed Course Ti review 2012
Men's skis 2012 > Giant slalom Best ski 2012
A testers' favourite, the Dynastar Speed Course Ti is a formidable tool for the slopes. One of the most effective skis around, it's designed for an athletic public with good technical skills (from good to excellent skiers), offering great long turn performance.
The Exclusive Active from Dynastar is a good intermediate ski. It's very easy and accessible, giving beginners confidence and enabling them to progress to more technical carving. It's an excellent choice for pre-intermediate to intermediate skiers who want to make progress.
Visibly modelled on the slalom ski, the model shows good responsiveness and performs well in tight curves. The ski is too specific though to score well in the "Advanced" category, where it's true we're looking for performance but also for versatility, tolerance and comfort. The Speed Groove is nonetheless a good ski for performance skiers who like nimble skis and tight turns (and who don't want... Read on
The Dynastar 6th Sense Slicer is a "Freestyle" ski that matches the ProSkiLab™ guidelines, designed for 50% piste/50% park. On the other hand, it's still an excellent backcountry ski for skiers with good technical and physical skills interested in a 70% freeride/15% piste/15% park programme.
The Outland XT is a good ski but doesn't match up to other models that are easier to use, more fun and offer better performance, like the Rossignol Alias Carbon 74, for example. Despite its relatively limited range of uses, it will suit an intermediate skier looking for a good leisure ski.
The Dynastar Outland 80 Pro was disappointing and, despite the brand's excellent freeride reputation, it failed to convince the ProSkiLab™ testers. We detected a glide wax issue that tended to make the base grip and which no doubt contributed in large part to its poor test performance. We need to test this ski again next year.
Like the Expérience 88, the Legend 85 is pulled back by its waist that is relatively narrow compared to other models. We need to test it again next year in a wider framework to be able to compare it with skis like the Crusade. However, we felt that the stiffness of the flex made it more suited to the groomers. This is a ski for athletes with good technical skills.
The ski lacks the tolerance and versatility needed to score well in the ProSkiLab™ Advanced category. It could be that the sample Dynastar sent us was faulty, so we'd like to test it again next year.
