K2 Charger review 2013

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

At a disadvantage in the Slalom category, where it fell short for lack of responsiveness in short turns and relatively poor performance, the K2 Charger, which stood out for its comfort, versatility and user-friendliness, is an excellent ski... for the advanced programme, the category in which it would certainly have scored better. An ideal choice for average to very good skiers who're looking for a high-performance, enjoyable ski that inspires confidence.

Review: Pros

  • The K2 Charger is a remarkably all-round ski. It offers performance, comfort, versatility and pleasure, especially in long turns. The testers were impressed by its performance in all circumstances... Whether you're skiing for fun or for excellence, in skid turns or carving, in short or long turns, it performs well and gives the skier confidence. One of the testers even said that it's a "perfect ski for learning."

Review: Cons

  • It seems that there's been some sort of casting mistake...with a 16- metre radius, the K2 Charger could never expect to do really well in the Slalom category where its rivals have a radius between 12 and 13 metres. A no-surprise ski, it's a lot less responsive and agressive in short turns. We can note that the performance, even if it's good, is below the average for this category.

Manufacturer's remarks

With the addition of ROX technology, the Charger steps its firm-snow performance upanother notch. The added torsion combined withSpeed Rocker and a sharper sidecut makes it one of the most versatile and nimble hard snowcarving tools for short to medium radius turns.
