The Power 400 is very well named. It's a powerful and efficient ski, unfortunately handicapped by its lack of accessibility, which pulls it down in this category. A bit too challenging for intermediate skiers, the Power 400 is closer to an Advanced ski, best for skiers that already know what they're doing and can carve a turn on a sixpence.

Review: Pros

• The Power 400 is the best all-rounder in this category. Powerful, incisive, and with grip like a pitbull ("on rails" according to one of the testers), it's a lively, responsive and very stable ski. It's a real pleasure in long-radius turns on all types of snow.

Review: Cons

• This ski is less accessible than some because of its considerable stiffness. The ski skids poorly. The relatively stiff tail has lots of grip which could cause problems for beginners and intermediate skiers who may find it difficult to handle. The ski is designed for speed and requires constant attention.

The Power 400 is a high performance product, positioned as a low-priced racing ski, a role in which it shines, and carving enthusiasts will just love it. Well-balanced, with great rebound and exceptional agility, it's smooth and supple on the edges, extremely comfortable, and all go when riders step up the pace. A great performer at an attractive price.
