Atomic VF 73 review 2011

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

The Atomic VF73 is an excellent ski but unfortunately there’s too much emphasis on performance for our "Intermediate" programme. It just missed getting a “reviewer’s favourite” rating as it was considered less accessible than the other models in the category. It’s nonetheless an ideal ski for a wide range of skiers, from the intermediate (relatively sportive) to the good skier who’s looking for a more technical ski that’s responsive, precise and effective.

Review: Pros

  • The performance of the Atomic VF73 impressed the reviewers. The ski is stable, highly responsive and playful. It's fun to manoeuvre and is great for short-radius turns. Relatively rigid, it has excellent grip and is faultless in turn control.

Review: Cons

  • The VF73 was judged slightly too rigid for a ski in this category. Rigidity is an advantage in terms of performance, but makes it less accessible (although it’s still not bad) as it requires some technical know-how and physical prowess, and so is less suitable for a complete beginner.
