The Rossignol S4 is versatile, and suitable for both park and piste skiing. It's a good choice for beginners and intermediary/confirmed freestylers who want to tear up the park and enjoy riding the piste. Expert frestylers, especially the well-built and those who want to attack hard snow, are likely to prefer a less flexible and more technical ski.

Review: Pros

• The S4 is an excellent ski for the pistes. It's very comfortable to use, has good grip, is fluid and at ease in all conditions (except on hard snow). Freestylers will find it especially good in switch and comfortable in rail.

Review: Cons

• As the tail is relatively flexible, the ski lacks the pop (spring) that expert freestylers want, particularly the well-built. It's less impressive on the slopes at high speeds on hard snow.

Xavier Bertoni won a gold medal on this ski for Ski Superpipe in the 2009 X-Games. S4 has more X-Games medals than Mike Jordan has world championship rings. The S4 eats the competition for lunch, whether skiing in rail jams, slope style or superpipe. The WRS concept makes it a super lightweight jib ski. The S4 is our team approved pro model, for the riders who live and breathe park skiing. Don't be afraid to ski the rest of the mountain with it too, it tears up anything on the hill.
