Dynastar Cham 87 review 2013

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

The Cham 87 scored well in the past and would no doubt have scored better and even got a reviewers "Coup de coeur" if we'd had longer skis to test. It's an excellent ski that corresponds well to the 50% piste/50% hors-piste programme. It's extremely easy to handle, enjoyable and playful. We recommend it for all average to very good skiers/freeriders who're looking for a versatile ski that performs well in all conditions. Skiers looking for a more performance-oriented ski that will really let rip in the powder will probably prefer the Bonafide.

Review: Pros

  • The Cham 87 is an excellent performer overall, both on and off-piste. Easy to handle, highly appreciated for its float and its handling in powder (despite its relatively small size), perfectly at ease in crud, it's a great all-mountain ski.

Review: Cons

  • The testers noted a lack of stability and performance in long turns at high speed, no doubt due to the size of the model we tested (172 cm instead of the 180 requested). These weaknesses will probably be offset with longer skis.

Manufacturer's remarks

This ski is especially versatile.

  • We love: its easy handling. This freeride ski can do anything.

  • Technically, its levitation profile features a long rocker tip and a flat pintail. The reverse (tapering) sidecut gives more maneuverability and effortless turns with traditional sidecut underfoot and the extra wide sidecuts give it exceptional float in powder and a very long radius. Full Length ABS sidewalls and sandwich laminate construction with wood core.

  • It's main advantage: it's a one-quiver ski

  • Who for? Middling to good skiers intermédaires who love exploring the slope perimeters.
