As a ski that is geared more towards off-piste conditions, the Cham 87 will appeal to good freeride skiers who are looking for a ski that is playful and easy-to-handle in powder, but which also performs reasonably well on the slopes.

Review: Pros

• In on-piste conditions, the Cham 87 is characterised by its quick handleability. The ski pivots easily, and is perfectly at ease in sliding and skidded turns. But it is in off-piste conditions that it reveals its full potential. The Cham 87 is docile, pleasant underfoot, lively and playful, and particularly at home in powder, where it planes and pivots with ease.

Review: Cons

• On the slopes, its pintail design reduces its edge-holding powers, grip and turning performance. In carved turns, performance is iffy.
• In off-piste conditions, the narrower surface at the back of the ski forces the skier to adopt a forward-skiing position.

The Cham 87 is aimed at intermediate-level to good skiers who want a versatile freeride ski that performs well in both on- and off-piste conditions.
Featuring a reverse sidecut design, the ski is extremely manoeuvrable and easy to handle. On the slopes, performance is fluid, and the ski is very flexible in powder. Both short- and long-radius turns can be performed with ease on all types of snow, even hardpack.
