Dynastar Cham 97 review 2016

PROSKILAB™ reviewers' comments

While it did well in the ProSkiLab™ pre-tests in Méribel, the Cham 97 was found wanting in the exceptionally poor snow conditions during the review. We still feel that it’s a good ski and we’ll definitely test it again next year.

Review: Pros

  • Very user-friendly
  • Enters turns easily and good handling qualities
  • Reassuring behaviour as long as you don’t push it

Review: Cons

  • Performance less convincing at high speed
  • Lacks grip and pressure in turns
  • Ski tip limits performance
  • NB ProSkiLab™: the 2016 all mountain 50/50 ski review conditions (despite the date being pushed back several times) were exceptionally bad: e.g. transformed snow, crusting off-piste, hard pack on the piste. In these conditions, more rigid skis with better grip and better skimming power in uneven snow conditions tend to do better

Manufacturer's remarks

'Chamonix Approved’. A ‘made in Mont-Blanc ’ country Label for a new generation of freeride ski.
A Cham means a complete guarantee of ease and fluidity for the rider on every type of terrain, including hard pack snow. And the new Cham 2.0 97 is even more efficient than the others. With its intermediary width, it’s impossible to be more effective and versatile to skim over mountains in every direction. Discover a new balance with a lighter structure, 5 Points sidecuts, a fluid design and a progressive tip that promises rides you could only dream of. Possibility to add ski touring bindings; optional skin kit.
